Sydney’s popular quick Brown Fox Eatery gets a reboot
Home of Sydney’s much-loved Banoffee Waffles and Koshihikari Rice Congee, Quick Brown Fox Eatery in leafy Pyrmont village has relaunched with a new look and menu.
Popular corner eatery Quick Brown Fox has swapped its all-day dining offering for separate menus for breakfast and lunch, with dishes from talented young chef Daniel Grey who draws on his mix of fine dining and cafe experience having worked at AALIA, The Apollo, Three Williams and Devon Cafe.
Fresh produce pops in Quick Brown Fox’s breakfast menu of classics with character like Smashed Avo on Brickfields Bakery toast with housemade radish, chilli labna and a zingy French dressing, while the brunch-perfect Banoffee Waffles has been given a new lease on life with caramelised banana, golden syrup ice cream and dulce de leche foam.
From midday, the new lunch menu celebrates seasonal produce in a range of small plates and share dishes such as Whipped Roe taramasalata, Pan-Fried Snapper with apple cucumber, spinach and kombu ponzu, and a fresh take on the eatery’s long-standing favourite Buffalo Ricotta Gnudi with smoked tomato and macadamia. There’s also a great menu for kids.
Complementing the new menus is a refreshed drinks list of spritzes and signature cocktails, and a selection of easy-drinking wines from small batch and often organic Australian wineries like Mercer in the Hunter Valley and Inkwell in McLaren Vale.
Quick Brown Fox has also refreshed its interiors, working with Sydney stylist Nicola Stillone, whose previous projects include Simon Sandall’s Boronia Kitchen and Mark Jensen/ Luke Nguyen’s Red Lantern, to enhance charming original features of its 1840s heritage cottage like sandstone walls and exposed beams. The cosiness of the dining room and covered courtyard has been upped with heritage mirrors, brass light fittings, a whitewashed timber roof and barn door, and rustic timber wall panelling.
Unchanged is Quick Brown Fox’s relaxed dining and drinking vibe to a soundtrack of funky tunes with friendly faces serving up perfectly poured Gabriel coffee and Tea Craft tea, cold pressed juices, Moda sparkling water and organic kombucha from Kombu, with seating both indoors and alfresco (dog-friendly) among heritage terraces and leafy laneways.
