Australia’s best chefs head to the Hawkesbury for new “Culinary Icons” dining series

Adding to its growing reputation as the place to eat in the Hawkesbury, The Royal Richmond Hotel is bringing some of Australia’s best chefs to the region for its new Culinary Icons dining series, starting with Damien Pignolet of Claude's and Bistro Moncur fame.

The celebrated French Chef/Restaurateur will kick off the series with a sensational French dinner 7pm Thursday 14 July for Bastille Day in the newly-renovated atrium-style bistro of The Royal.

Collaborating with The Royal’s General Manager Todd Garratt (ex Fish Butchery, Wine Library, Buzo) and Head Chef Jo Ward (ex Bistro Rex, Claude’s), Damien will source the best Hawkesbury produce for the menu, including organic vegetables from Happy Farm in North Richmond, cockerels from Ryan and Rebecca of R&R Roosters in Llandilo for a Coq au Vin, pecans from Cornwallis, and quince from Mountain Lagoon Orchard in Bilpin.

“We’re excited to be launching this Culinary Icons series at The Royal, showcasing the best local produce the Hawkesbury has to offer at the hands of some of the country’s finest culinary veterans,” said General Manager of The Royal Richmond Hotel, Todd Garratt.

The Damien Pignolet dinner will include four courses with matching wines plus a glass of French sparkling and snacks on arrival for $130 per person, or $90 per person food only. Bookings are essential and places are strictly limited.

The series will then continue with a roll call of iconic names in food and wine, with legendary Janni Kyritsis (ex Berowra Waters Inn, Bennelong, MG Garage) next in line to create a Greek picnic lunch on Sunday 14 August, featuring his famous Wild Weed Pie and lamb baked in paper among other signature dishes.
