New menus and the CBD’s largest beer garden at The Sussex Hotel

Sip on an ice-cold beer and tuck into a tasty new menu as you soak up the spring sun in the CBD’s largest beer garden at The Sussex Hotel.

Located on the doorstep of Barangaroo at the end of Wynyard Walk in the heart of the city, the heritage pub - with a striking original 1915 Edwardian-style façade - is the perfect go-to for your next mid-week lunch, after-work catch-up or Saturday session.

A dozen different tap beers pair perfectly with delicious new dishes in the Public Bar & Beer Garden menu, such as achiote chicken tacos with salsa roja, karaage chicken with sriracha mayo, and pan-fried Atlantic salmon with heirloom tomatoes.

Also featured are enticing classics like chicken parmi, chicken and leek pie, sirloin steak and buttermilk fried chicken burger, which are ready to be enjoyed in the old-meets-new interiors of the Public Bar, with its sleek grey marble bar, timber flooring and cosy leather banquettes, and expansive leafy Beer Garden.

On offer is a range of mid-week specials, including $22 steaks on Mondays, new Wednesday night trivia and happy hour beers and wines from 5pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday.

For those looking to extend their Euro-summer holiday vibes, enter the pub’s Rooftop bar.

Oversized umbrellas nestled among a budding olive tree and grapevine-covered pergola will have you feeling like you’re in the Mediterranean, as you watch the sun go down with a cocktail or glass of rosé in hand from one of Sydney’s best rooftops.

Popular cocktails here include Tommy’s Margarita, Paloma and Garden Spritz (made with shiraz gin and sparkling grapefruit), the perfect tonic after a long day.

Complementing these is a menu of new Mezze-style dishes, like falafel, crispy squid with aleppo pepper and lime aioli, spicy cauliflower bites with whipped feta, as well as a variety of Mediterranean salads and chicken shawarma, lamb kofta and pork souvlaki kebabs.

The pub also houses mid-week lunch hotspot, Suriya - a casual bistro and bar serving up delicious, authentic Thai food, including fragrant curries, fresh colourful salads and flavour-packed stir-fries, along with an extensive wine and beer list.

The Sussex Hotel is open from 10am to late from Monday to Friday, and from 4pm to late on Saturdays. Visit thesussexhotel.com.au for more information or to book a table.
